Profile family and tooling
A line may have enough hours but lack the correct die, calibrator, embossing, or downstream equipment. Group related profile families only when the actual tool and line pairing is valid.
Profile extrusion scheduling
Build a floor-ready profile schedule around tooling, profile family, color, resin, calibration, cooling limits, and achievable feet per minute.

Who this is for
Schedulers coordinating many lower-volume profile SKUs across shared tooling and calibration assets.
Production and operations managers handling color, resin, surface-finish, and packaging changes through the week.
Owners of growing profile plants where spreadsheets no longer expose capacity or delivery risk clearly.
Real scheduling constraints
A line may have enough hours but lack the correct die, calibrator, embossing, or downstream equipment. Group related profile families only when the actual tool and line pairing is valid.
Feet/minute is often limited downstream, not by nominal extruder output. Store the demonstrated rate for the line/profile combination rather than relying on a motor or screw rating.
Sequence natural and light colors before darker compounds where practical, and allow for purge, surface inspection, coextrusion, or protective-film setup.
Cut, punch, print, bundle, or reel requirements can change the usable line rate and labor plan even when the cross-section is similar.
Order-to-schedule example
Order: 48,000 ft of a gray rigid-PVC window profile, 12-ft cut lengths, due next Wednesday, using Tool P-214 and a calibrated line rate of 18 ft/min.
RunMark limits the choice to lines approved for the profile and tool setup, calculates duration from the selected line rate, and reserves the planned color/tooling change before the production block.
The schedule exposes the calculated completion against the due date. When the run is released, labels use its product, line, run, date, order, and unit information without a separate rekeying step.
One connected workflow
Map each profile or family to the lines and downstream cells that can actually hold tolerance and finish.
Plan using demonstrated feet/minute by profile and line, including cooling and calibration limits.
Account for die, calibrator, color, resin, coextrusion, print, cut, and packaging setup.
Calculate run windows and surface orders that need a different line, sequence, or promise date.
Carry the scheduled run identity into bundle, carton, or unit label records.
Spreadsheet scheduling compared
| Spreadsheet workflow | RunMark workflow |
|---|---|
| Tool and calibrator conflicts are discovered in a morning meeting. | Capability is checked while assigning the run. |
| Every profile inherits a generic feet/minute assumption. | Rates can reflect the actual profile/line combination. |
| Color and resin transitions sit in cell comments. | Setup time occupies visible schedule capacity. |
| Packaging labels are typed from an order printout. | Run data feeds the label record directly. |
Relevant RunMark capabilities
Model one profile family and one line first, then add the rest of the active schedule. There is no ERP rollout or mandatory integration project. The 30-day trial starts without a card.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. Production rates can reflect the product and line combination, which is important when calibration, cooling, or downstream work changes the achievable speed.
RunMark makes line capability and schedule timing explicit. Shared-tool availability should be represented in the team’s scheduling process; it is not presented as a dedicated tool-room reservation system.
Schedulers can reserve setup time and sequence runs using the product, resin, and color information available to the team.
Yes. RunMark supports Excel order import as well as direct order entry.
Yes. Label records are created after a scheduled run is selected and use information from that production record.
No. The 30-day trial requires no credit card and creates no automatic charge.
